Once upon a time, two best friends, Raj and Aman, were walking through a dense and beautiful forest. The sun peeked through the leaves, creating patterns of light and shadow on the ground. The chirping of birds and the rustling of leaves filled the air, making the walk feel peaceful but a little scary. Raj, who was an adventurous person, loved exploring nature, while Aman, who was more cautious, preferred to walk on the paths he knew.
Before stepping into the forest, they promised each other, “No matter what happens, we will face it together. After all, that’s what friends are for?” Raj laughed and patted Aman on the back to ease his nervousness.
As they walked, they talked about life, their dreams, and the wild animals in the forest. Suddenly, their laughter stopped when they heard a rustling sound in the bushes. Their hearts were chilled when a large bear came out of the bushes and growled softly as it approached them.
Raaj, moving quickly on his feet, immediately spotted a tall tree nearby. Without thinking, he climbed up the tree and shouted, “Aman, climb up quickly!” But Aman, who had never climbed a tree in his life, stood there frozen. His mind was racing in search of a solution.
Remembering an advice he had heard once, Aman decided to use his wit. He quickly lay down on the ground, held his breath and pretended to be lifeless. He knew that bears usually do not attack creatures they think are dead.
The bear slowly came up to Aman and started sniffing him from head to toe. He even bent down close to his ear, as if whispering something. Aman remained still as a stone, his heart thumping inside but his body showing no signs of life. After a tense moment, the bear let out a hiss and disappeared back into the forest.
When the danger was over, Raj came down from the tree, relieved but also curious. “Aman!” he said, “That was so close! What did the bear do? It seemed to whisper something to you. What was written in it?”
Aman sat up, brushed the dust off his clothes, and looked at Raj with a slight smile. “Oh, it whispered something,” he replied. “It said, ‘Never trust a friend who deserts you in times of danger.’”
Raj’s face turned red with embarrassment. He realized how selfishly he had acted, leaving Aman to fend for himself. “I’m so sorry, Aman,” he said, his voice filled with guilt. “I was nervous and didn’t think of you. I promise I’ll never abandon you again.”
Aman smiled warmly. “It’s okay, Raj. Sometimes, fear shows us who we really are. Let’s just make sure we’re always there for each other from now on.”
The two friends continued their journey, their bond stronger than ever. The jungle, which once seemed dangerous, now seemed like a place of lessons and growth. Together, they learned that true friendship is not just about making promises, but about standing by each other when needed the most.
